Every month we feature a different coach, and usually, the text is written by us.
But when it comes to Coach Bernardo, there’s no one better to describe his love for soccer than his wife:
“Bernardo has always loved soccer — an Atletico fan since he was little.
He was always playing pickup games or representing his school team, even though people used to say he wasn’t that good with the ball hahaha (His wife’s words — but we have to agree with her on that one)!
When he started studying Economics at UFV, even without a direct connection to sports, he found his own jeitinho brasileiro to get involved in extracurricular activities related to soccer: he interned at VEL (Viçosa Sports and Leisure) and at NUPEF (Soccer Research Center).

Through those experiences, he got the opportunity to come to the U.S. for a summer camp — and from then on, he never stopped.
In 2021, he went to Maine and started coaching at Seacoast United, staying there in the freezing cold until Ygao finally convinced him to join BUSA.
Since then, I don’t think I’ve ever seen him so fulfilled and happy professionally — whether it’s during practices and games with the kids, spending time with a Brazilian staff that lives and breathes soccer, or closing a sale with that enthusiasm only he has!”
